Self Drive Victoria

The Great Ocean Road.
Recognised as one of the world’s most scenic drives, the Great Ocean Road follows the stunning coastline of Victoria’s south-west. Stretching 243 kilometres from Torquay, just south of Geelong, to Allansford, just east of Warrnambool, the road winds along cliff tops, up to breathtaking headlands, down onto the edge of beaches, across river estuaries and through lush rainforests offering panoramic views of Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean at every turn.
Spectacular vistas
The stretch between Lorne and Apollo Bay is considered by many to be the most picturesque section of the Great Ocean Road. The highway is carved into sheer cliffs that drop away into the ocean, offering commanding views of the waves swelling and crashing onto the rocks and beaches below.

Aire Valley Restaurant and Guest House
is situated on the Great Ocean Road, west of Apollo Bay outside the hamlet of Hordern Vale. The Homestead dates originally from the 1890s and overlooks the lakes of the Aire River Wildlife Reserve and the Great Otway National Park.
The Aire Valley Restaurant specialises in the very best fresh food. Vegetables and herbs are picked from the garden each evening just before dinner. Meat is sourced directly from Colac and fish from local Victorian waters.

Great Ocean Walk
The Great Ocean Walk has quickly become one the world's most iconic walks. Specifically designed for walkers to "step on and step off" the trail, the Great Ocean Walk can be completed while enjoying the comforts of a warm bed, great food, and great wine. The Great Ocean Walk was originally intended to run from Apollo Bay to Glenample Homestead, however since the closure of Glenample Homestead the track finishes near the 12 Apostles. The length of the track is 104kms. Winding along the coast, through rain forests and across rivers the track provides opportunities to see an abundance of birds and wildlife. Swamp wallabies, kangaroos, koalas, king parrots, echidnas, blue tongued lizards, and snakes can be seen along the track.

Port Campbell Touring Company
offers a professional, nature-based touring service in South West Victoria, in particular along the Great Ocean Road. The company is situated in Port Campbell, which is the closest town to the world famous Twelve Apostles and the spectacular Loch Ard Gorge precinct.

The Boomerangs at Johanna
on the Great Ocean Road are quintessentially Australian. Three award winning boomerang shaped cottages offer guests a truly memorable experience. Set within three acres of magical, landscaped gardens they provide guests with sensational, forest, valley and ocean views. Architecturally designed, the cottages blend with the natural surroundings. Birdlife is prolific and privacy is assured. There is nothing like this in the rest of Australia. This is an accommodation experience a little out of the ordinary. Come down and put your feet up and take in the spectacular views. Do nothing, go for walks on the beach, visit some of our local attractions, have a BBQ, dine out at a local restaurant or have a massage in the comfort of your own cottage. We recommend a stay of at least 2 nights. Anything less will disappoint.
